Spaceship One flies
Spaceship One successfully flies into space and comes back, making this the first privately funded airship to reach space. Kudos!

I think this flight doesn’t count towards the X-Prize competition, since it was carrying only the pilot. They have to take three people the next time and then do it again in under two weeks time from that.

Well, congratulations to the SpaceShipOne Team.
They’ve one more flight until the can claim the X-Prize, which leaves my favourite team—The Canadian Arrow—eligible.
But that’s a two-week deadline, it’ll be tough. SpaceShipOne is probably going to win.
That being said, it’s a milestone for human innovation.
